Riding With Carman

Saturday was another great ride with Carmen. First of all…we almost didn’t make it out of the house due to high winds, but to my surprise Carmen decided to go anyway. Well the plan was just to do a few miles in the neighborhood and hide from the wind. After we left the house and started to ride, Carmen realized that the wind wasn’t something that she can handle. We rode our normal route…feeding the animals along the way and just enjoying being out together. On the way back, she decided that we would take a longer way back to get a few more miles. Well…I was tired myself and neither of us packed water or anything, but ok. As we rode, I’d look back a her to see how she was doing, and there she was just be bopping along….even speeding up at time. She was enjoying herself. We rode through Suntree, back into Viera, into southern Rockledge and then back into Viera again for 15 miles! That was just fantastic for Carmen and I was really happy for her. This is the same person that hates to drive that distance and now she is riding her bike that far! I had a blast! Carmen is the best riding partner. I did manage a few photos…but she’d kill me if I posted them. Sunday there was no ride…Carmen was a tad sore and had too much work, plus I was tired too. But thanks for the ride Carmen and we’ll do that again real soon.

Stairmaster...stairmaster, I figured that it was worth mentioning twice because that thing is a killer! But I like that sort of thing. I worked out for 30 minutes on level 11 and did 2760 feet and burnt 560 calories...that is in 30 minutes! A very fast way to burn off some fuel and get a good burn. The veins in my quads were just popping out! This morning’s ride was a tad uneventful. I rode 30 miles in 1 hour and 2 miutes which is a bout average for me now. My MP3 player ran out of battery so I was watching tv. Oh..hum. But a good couple of work outs. I’ll go home tonight and run...not sure but I think outside.

18th of January

Last might I went home and did my dog chores and went to run on the treadmill. I was all by myself in my gym. Anyway, I ran my 4 miles in 36 minutes for a 9 min.mile. Not bad, but I’ll have to start to pick the pace up to the sub 8 min/mile. But for now it will work, I have almost 3 months to work on speed. This morning I had a hard time motivating myself to ride the roller...but I did. I rode my 30 miles in 1 hour and 2 minutes for just over a 29 mph pace. That is good and I can’t complain. I have been sweating like a little piggy though on my roller..more than normal. Maybe I’ll trim down faster. Not that I have that much to loose off of my 132 pound frame! This weekend looks pretty good for some longer rides. Should be warm and the winds should be tolerable....75 degrees and winds 5-11 mph. I’ll plane to a good tail wind on the ride home. I’m excited for a 4-5 hour day in the saddle! That is why I do what I do during the week.
