There are some kind people left!

Well it's Saturday and I finally made it for a ride outside of the garage. Today I wasn’t planning on doing much…wind is really kicking it up today and I have a ton of things to do….off of the bike. I rode up around the TICO airport and headed back south on US! And down the river and about 20 some odd mile into the ride…I get a flat. Not an ordinary flat either…I don’t know what I rode over but it put a nice slice in my tier…will have to replace it. A funny thing did happen though during the flat tire incident…a man in a car actually stopped to see if I need any help…are there really people like that left? I just said thanks with a big smile and told this “gentleman” that I had everything that I needed. Then something else happened…the lady’s who yard I was performing the road side bike maintenance in came out. Now if you are not familiar with this area…it’s a bit affluent. Anyway, this lady (who was about late 40s to early 50) came out of her house and started walking over to me…I thought that se would be snippy seeing that I have my bike apart and tools and tubes spread about. But surprisingly she came over to see if I needed anything and to see if I need her help in anyway…WOW, it thought, there are some nice people left in the world. By this time, I’m putting everything back together and…so I kindly replied “no thank you!”. I almost have everything back together when I hear…WOSH, WOSH, WOSH…..three cyclists fly by where I am. Don’t you think that they would stop to see if I needed anything….OH, HELL NO! I guess that they couldn’t be bothered. So me being the ass that I can be….I finished up in a hurry and jumped on my bike to chase them down. I start flying north on the river drive doing 32 mph and I catch up with then in about a mile or so. I pull up along the side of these pretensions prick on the Treks and Postal Team clothing….I nodded at then as to stick my nose in the air and then I did what I do best….left them behind me. Now, they did try to hang on….but I had a point to make and I continued my blistering pace so that there was o way they could hang…and they didn’t…..(thank god…my heart rate was about 182 bpm)…I was about to die! Once I knew that those punks were far enough back, I slowed down a bit and rode back home! I finished the day with 30 miles…like I said…had things to do and the wind was BLOWING, so I know that it’s a short ride for me. After I got home, I did wash, degreased, lubed, and even waxed my bike! I also swapped the tire out with a spare that I had. Bike looked brand new again!!
