1/2 Tour

Well all day Saturday I was wishing that I was still on my bike…wind or no wind so today that’s what I’m doing. I’m just going to ride. I’m not going to worry about the wind or speed…just time. It’s been beautiful outside. Today (Sunday), I’m going to ride out to NASA and down S. Tropical trail and over Pineda Causeway and up the river home. Well the wind was a bit brisk coming out of the west @10 at 8 am and will only get worst, but who care…I’ll gear down and just peddle harder. I should be strong enough. I rode up to Columbia Ave and headed east to NASE and got that tailwind. I cruised at 26 mph the whole way and made fantastic time, but in the back of my mind I know that I’ll pay for this. Heading south out of NASA I started to feel that cross wind and then the headwind…not bad really! It did slow me down to about 19.5-20 mph…but I’m not in a rush. That is the ride pretty much all the way down into Merritt Island. On the south side of 520 on Tropical Trail…I did get the thumbs up and a cheer from Kathy…Kathy is the owner of Adventure Cycles in MI…she was in her yard. I’m cruising right along no at about 24 mph! The wind must be at my back a bit. Well the ride down the rest of the way was gorgeous! The sun was high and barely a cloud in the sky! I’m just peddling down the river enjoying the view! Now…I’m not a prick on my bike..I love to wave at people and say “good morning”! So that is what I did the whole way down. Because the weather was so nice…everyone was in there yards doing chores. Plenty of people to wave to! I made it to Pineda! This is going to be hard.I have to ride over the bridge with a stiff head wind. I gear down and just peddle my ass off and made it up and over with ease actually! On the west side, there is a marina that I’ll stop at and take my first break! I stopped, now at about 46 miles to eat and call Carmen. That lasted for about 10 minutes. It was a nice place and I’m watching the boater….oh yeah, it’s still only about 10:30 am! EARLY! I take off back north along US! And turned off on River Dr! Still much of the same. Wind was a pretty strong crosswind but the scenery is nice and I’m still able to go 21-22 mph. I really haven’t seen too many cyclist…huh! WIMPS! Anyway, I made it up to Cocoa Village, rode around there a bit and then just rode on home. A pretty day, a nice ride, a strong crosswind, but an uneventful ride! I do have to say that my bike rode great!! The wash, wax, and lube paid off…a very happy bike and rider! The ride took me over 70 miles with an average speed of 20.6 mph. Made it home by 12:30..just in time to clean cars, and do yard work myself!! Got plenty of sun that’s for sure!
